Getting started as a Vim Connect user

Learn how to access and use Vim applications inside your EHR as a clinical or operational end user.

Who This Is For

This guide is for clinical or operational staff who will use Vim Connect during their daily EHR workflows.

What Is Vim Connect?

Vim Connect is a lightweight integration layer that enables access to applications directly within your EHR. It powers point-of-care tools like Care Insights, Enhanced Eligibility, and Prior Authorization—making them available exactly where and when providers need them.

By embedding these applications in your EHR workflow, Vim Connect eliminates the need for external portals, reduces clicks, and supports more efficient, informed care delivery at the point of care.

Once Vim Connect is installed on a workstation, it securely connects your EHR session with Vim’s platform. When a patient chart is opened, Vim Connect checks for relevant data (like open care gaps or prior authorization requirements) and, if available, activates the blue Vim heart icon in your interface. Clicking the heart launches a lightweight overlay with the tools and information available for that patient—all without leaving your workflow.

👉 Vim surfaces data provided by partners such as health plans, ACOs, and MSOs, delivered securely and aligned with your organization’s configured applications and access controls.

What You’ll See in the EHR

  • A grey Vim heart icon will appear in your EHR (typically in the top-right corner)

  • The icon turns blue when patient-specific information or tasks are available

  • Click the icon to open Vim tools like Care Insights, Enhanced Eligibility, or Prior Authorization

💡 If the heart icon stays grey, it means there’s no patient-specific data available at the moment. Vim is still working—just not triggered for that patient.

What You Need to Get Started

  • Vim Connect must be installed on your computer

  • Your Console Admin must create or activate your user profile

  • You must be logged into your EHR on a supported workstation

👉 If Vim Connect is installed but you're not showing up as an active user, it may be because your profile hasn’t been activated. Contact your Console Admin to confirm.
