General Vim Connect 

What is Vim Connect?
Vim Connect is a lightweight app that integrates with your EHR to enable access to clinical tools and insights, including core and third-party applications, directly in your workflow.

Do I need to log into Vim separately?
No. Vim uses seamless login via your EHR. If your EHR supports it, you won’t need additional credentials.

Is Vim Connect secure?
Yes. Vim is HITRUST Certified, HIPAA-compliant, and SOC 2 certified. Learn more here. 


Onboarding Your Practice

How do I install Vim Connect?
Follow step-by-step guides for Windows or Mac. For large deployments, Vim supports GPO and scripted RMM installs.

What is an Organization Key and where do I find it?
It’s a unique identifier linking Vim Connect to your practice. Find it in the Console under the Organization tab.

Can I install Vim Connect on multiple devices at once?
Yes. Use Group Policy (GPO) or RMM tools for bulk deployment.

How do I update Vim Connect?
Updates are typically pushed automatically. If manual update is required, your IT team can re-install using the latest MSI or Chrome extension link.


User Access & Roles

Who are Vim Connect users vs. Console users?

  • Vim Connect users access tools inside the EHR.
  • Console users (Admins/Owners) manage settings, user access, and app permissions.

What’s the difference between Admin and Owner?
Owners are primary admins who first activate the account and agree to Vim's Terms of Service. Admins can help manage settings and users.

What is an Auto-Created User?
A user account created automatically when someone launches Vim Connect in the EHR (if the setting is enabled).

What does each user status mean?

  • Created – User added, hasn’t launched Vim
  • Live – User used Vim in the last 30 days
  • Inactive – User hasn’t used Vim in 30+ days
  • Pending (Manual login orgs only) - The user was added but hasn’t yet set a password.

  • Activated (Manual login orgs only) - The user set a password but hasn’t logged in.

  • Failed Login – Unsuccessful login attempt

Can multiple people be Console Admins?
Yes, multiple Console Admins are allowed. Others can be added as Admins

How do I deactivate a user?
Go to Vim Console > Vim Connect Users > Select the three dots to the right of the user > Select Delete User


Using Vim Applications

Which applications are included in Vim’s Core Apps?

How do I know if I have access to a specific app?
Ask your Console Admin or check Vim Connect in your EHR.

Why isn’t the heart turning blue in my EHR?
This likely means there’s no patient-specific data available at the moment, or your user account has not been activated.

Can I reposition the Vim heart icon?
Yes, directional arrows allow you to move the icon within your EHR.

Who manages onboarding at our practice?
The Practice Champion (Console Admin) leads onboarding, coordinates with Vim, and supports long-term usage.

Can Vim help train our staff?
Yes. Live training and Q&A are part of the onboarding process.

Changes, Compatibility, & Troubleshooting

Does Vim work on all browsers?
Mac installs require Chrome. Windows users access Vim via the installed MSI and Chrome.

A user installed Vim but doesn’t appear in Console. Why?
Check the "Potential Users" tab. If Auto-Create is not enabled, they may be pending activation.
